2026 Summary

The sailing year got off to a late start-- launching on June 16.  Our official mooring was not installed, so Carter gave us one from his company, Falls Point Marine. It was a better location, close to the Town Wharf and the dinghy dock.

Jenny and I made a short fun trip out to the Goslings on July 4, but did not stay for the night. We did some swimming and paddle boarding, though.

A couple of days later we took the Maine grandkids, Hazel (11 soon) and Felix (13 soon), on a short cruise.  It was supposed to be for 3 nights, but we tried going to Seguin Island on the second night which was way too rough and their new dock was under construction.  Instead, the current was good to keep going up the Kennebec River to Bath, where we met Sophi and Travis and all went out for pizza.  After spending the night in Bath, Jenny and I sailed back to Freeport in good time, but motoring all the way.

Sophi and Travis took Magus out with the kids,  along with their little dog Kiwi, from August 7 to 10.  The weather continued to be hot and calm, but they did not go far and had a lot of fun.  They saw lots of people they knew and paddle boarded around each anchorage they visited-- Goslings, Cliff Island, Jewel Island.  The kids had fun "camping" in a tent on the Goslings and Jewel. 

When Echo and family came up to Maine for a week in late August, we visited with them a lot. They spent part of the time at a cottage in Harpswell, so we met them at the Dolphin Marina in Potts Harbor for dinner and a short sail.  Jenny and I sailed back to Freeport, arriving after dark, but there was light from the moon behind the clouds.  By then, we knew we would be selling Magus, so we were happy to enjoy those last few experiences.
